Pembrokeshire Landscapes

After living in London and Brighton for twenty-five years, Pippa Cunningham’s return to the Welsh countryside she grew up in brought a fresh perspective to the landscape, that urged her to paint it. Simultaneously viewing the land as someone who has grown up out of it, and with a stranger’s eyes, there is something intimate and tender about the gaze these landscapes are painted with; inherent within them is a magical, childlike awe that can only be captured with the unique experience of returning to one’s childhood home. This love for the land is necessary especially for painting en plein air, as battling the elements is a given when painting in Pembrokeshire.
